Fishing near shore was tough this AM. The flat calm waters and full moon certainly had some impact. We lost 2 Lake Trout and boated 2 Lake trout fishing 45 fow to 110 fow. Bites came on a downrigger slider with a Freakin Johnson spoon, wire diver with copper dodger / green spin n glo
and Dreamweavers new to be released UV Whirligig
on a custom green spotted spindoctor. There were several reports of good offshore fishing in the 40s to 50s west for steelhead and lake trout. Other reports of tremendous action for salmon on the Wisconsin shores. We observed lots of bait (alewives in the 3 to 4 inch size) in Pere Marquette Lake , the channel, and harbor. Also, on yesterdays trip we observed many small pods of bait and some alewives busting (jumping out of water) trying to escape big fish feeding on them near surface. Our fishery should fire up soon !
